Naturpark Gantrisch - In the museum rooms of the Abegg Foundation, more than 7000 art-historically valuable textiles and selected art objects can be marvelled at. The museum with its extensive library and scientific institute is known worldwide.

In December 1961, Werner and Margaret Abegg founded the Institute of the Abegg Foundation after a long period of private collecting. From a young age, their interest and commitment was directed towards researching and preserving old textiles. The textile collection of the Abegg Foundation enjoys a worldwide reputation. It comprises textiles and other art objects from Europe, the Near East and the Silk Road region. They date from the 4th century B.C. to around 1800. The Abegg Foundation also owns an important collection of works of applied art, painting and sculpture. Works of art from a wide variety of genres are presented alongside textiles to highlight their cross-fertilisation and influence.
