Berggasthaus Obere Wechten

Naturpark Thal - The Berggasthaus Obere Wechten is located on a spectacular slope on the south side of the Wasserfallen-Passwang mountain chain. From the terrace you have a wonderful view over the Jura mountain chains of Naturpark Thal.

From the Wasserfallen mountain station, an impressive ravine leads along the rocks to the Berggasthaus Obere Wechten mountain inn (ca. 45 minutes). A second trail leads over the mountain chain to the spectacular Vogelbergfluh and via Ober Passwang from the west to the mountain inn. From the terrace you have a magnificent overview of Naturpark Thal. Here, the beautiful Guldental, the Jura mountain chains, the gorge of Mümliswil - Balsthal and the Alpine mountain chain unfold before your eyes. The former Nature Lovers’ House was constructed in 1923. Since 2007, host Jörg Saner has been satisfying the hunger of hikers, excursion guests and groups with plenty of dedication. Enjoy a region dish in the cosy parlour with seating for 40. The separate Limmernsääli offers space for further 45 persons. For seminars and groups, the mountain inn also offers a self-catering kitchen. These groups can then look over Jörg Saner’s shoulder to see how the “pro” cooks. For children, there is a playground with barbecue area at the edge of the forest.
