The cheese trails
Parc naturel régional Gruyère Pays-d'Enhaut - This dual route – the Via Le Gruyère AOP and the Via L’Etivaz AOP – closely follows the ancient communication routes, which were notably used for cheese transport over the Col de Jaman in the 17th and 18th centuries.
The cheese trails consist of 21 stages, with walking times ranging from one to four hours. This dual route – the Via Le Gruyère AOP and the Via L’Etivaz AOP – is ideal for families with young children.
The cheese trails wind through valley floors, villages, and their surroundings. These trails pass by numerous significant heritage landmarks. Along the way, you’ll also find several producers and sites where local products are made. All these cultural and culinary highlights are listed in a free smartphone app.
The app, available exclusively on iOS, allows users to explore the park’s heritage while following the two routes. It offers many advantages: in addition to essential information for a successful walk (maps, stage descriptions, walking times, etc.), it is fully GPS-enabled and provides details about the immediate surroundings.
Mini-games and puzzles punctuate the hike, offering a fun and engaging way to discover the history and traditions of the Gruyère and Pays-d’Enhaut regions.
