Naturpark Pfyn-Finges

Regional nature park since 2013

Rocky steppes and biotopes, idyllic mountain villages and charming small towns, hillside vineyards and one of the largest Scotch pine forest in the Alps. On a small surface area, Pfyn-Finges Nature Park reveals the wide variety of nature and amazes with its varied landscapes and the abundance of its flora and fauna.

Mysterious Nature Park Surprise yourself!

Exciting nature - pure joie de vivre - discover the moment - take it easy. In the heart of Valais, Pfyn-Finges Nature Park extends over 13 park municipalities between Gampel and Sierre. In practically no other region of Switzerland is the visitor confronted with such a widely contrasting and fascinating spectrum of unique natural and cultural values as in the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park. The region is popular with ornithologists because of the many species of birds that can be seen here, some very rare.

The place of unusual dynamic biodiversity at the language boundary

The heart of the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park is the nature reserve forest, one of the largest pine forests in the Alps. It covers 17 km2 and its biodiversity is one of the most important in Switzerland. The region is not only popular with visitors but is also extremely interesting for researchers. The wild River Rhone and the ponds characterise the area as do the steppes, water meadows, jungle-like stretches and rich flower meadows. The landscape tells many stories; the geology here shows what has changed during the centuries. An imposing contemporary witness is the Illgraben - one of the wildest torrent channels in the Swiss Alps.
