Twelve parks, the Swiss National Park (since 1914), the UNESCO-Biosphere Entlebuch (since 2008), the Regional Nature Park Thal and the Nature Discovery Park Zurich Sihlwald (since 2009), the UNESCO Biosfera Val Müstair (since 2010) and also the Regional Natur Parks Binntal, Chasseral, Diemtigtal, Ela, Gantrisch as well as the Jurapark Aargau and Gruyère Pays-d’Enhaut (since 2011) are in the operating phase. Six further park projects have begun with the establishment and use the label "kandidate". A further 6 to 10 projects are in assessment.
