Functions of the network
According to its constitution the network has the following functions. The network
- connects the park authorities and organisations in Switzerland and creates links to other national and international partners
- promotes cooperation and exchange of information and experiences with each other and utilises the available skills
- preserves and represents the interests of its members with the federal government, such as e.g. the development of standards and guidelines
- promotes and coordinates public relations, marketing and communications of the park organisations at national and international levels
- promotes and accompanies research at national and international levels
- promotes and accompanies cooperation with schools and educational institutions
- informs its members regularly about the activities of the association the situation in the park organisations and politically relevant topics
- can provide a range of services for the members, which facilitates the development, the organisation and the management of park areas (legislative questions, insurances, employment contracts, databanks, etc.)
- participates in national and international programs that deal with sustainable development or special questions concerning park areas
- supports further practical training and qualification of park employees, for example in the area of park management, looking after visitors and environmental education.
